How to Make Bubblegum
How to Make Bubblegum.
Homemade bubblegum is a bit messy to make but a lot of fun to chew!Ingredients.
1/2 to 1 cup of powdered sugar.
1/2 cup base gum pellets.
1 tablespoon powdered flavoring.
2 tablespoons of corn syrup.
Steps.
1. Arrange a piece of waxed paper across a baking sheet or other flat surface.
Also cut out lots of rectangular pieces of waxed paper for holding the gum and set these aside.
2. Tip the powdered sugar onto the waxed paper on the baking sheet. Pile it up, then push a well in the center of it. The liquid mixture will be poured into this shortly.
3. Put the gum pellets into the microwave proof container. Add the corn syrup and powdered flavoring.
4. Microwave the pellet mixture in 10 second bursts. Check to see how much it has melted after each burst; it's done when all the pellets have melted.
Stir after each check.
5. Remove from the oven. Pour the hot gum liquid into the well you made earlier.
6. Use a wooden popsicle stick to stir the hot gum liquid and powdered sugar together. Mix it as much as possible to dissolve the powdered sugar into it and form a dough. Knead it with your fingers when it cools down enough.
7. When it won't accept any further powdered sugar, it's done. The dough is ready to be formed into gum pieces.
8. Cut the gum into small pieces. Place each piece into a rectangle piece of wax paper of its own and twist the edges together to protect the gum.
9. Done. Store inside an airtight jar or container in a cool, dark and dry place.
